Great to have this landmark up and running.
There was so much I wanted.
The Eggs Benedict selections are marvelous.
I had the tid bits I wanted a little bit of everything, It did not disappoint. My partner had the Red Velvet waffles with fried chicken, he loved those. Gravy is really good. One thing is if you are sensitive to pepper, ask for less pepper, I’m sensitive to cayenne and I felt it later. But it was worth it.

The Atlantic Omelette was very good! The seafood was fresh! I would have liked a little more crab and lobster in the omelette; however it was filling along with the potatoes. The girl at the bar was great!

The asparagus tasted unseasoned yet were grilled to the black-maximum! The shrimp was the only thing remarkable and they hit the spot with culinary marksmanship!!! The poached eggs were blah– I know I have had a tangy hollandaise sauce that made poached eggs taste great!! SHAMEFULLY such tang was absent. A touch of vinegar in the cooking process would have done wonders! This dish looks far better than it tastes.
The waitress was very attentive and helpful.

Lulu’s was fantastic.. we went on the morning of the marathon so I expected it to be crowded and it was.. but they were super efficient, they quoted us 30 minutes to sit outside in the heated porch and it only took us 10 minutes to get to our very warm table.. the food was excellent (we had the chicken & biscuits w sausage gravy…and the crab and goat cheese omelet…bith were spectacular) as were the drinks, both adult and otherwise (great bloodys and awesome coffee).. and the service was Top Notch as well.. really worth a visit

Walking in the restaurant seemed as though it used to be 2 different places and has that downtown Richmond feel. We ordered the biscuits but I think the server forgot. When the biscuits arrived, they were definitely undercooked and still a little soft on the inside. I feel as though they were microwaved given their firm spongy texture on the outside. I am an expert when it comes to biscuits and they definitely didn’t hit the mark. Luckily they’re not known for this item. For our entrées we ordered the chicken and velvet waffle and the shrimp and grits. Comes with poached egg, asparagus and hollandaise. The grits were underseasoned possibly used water instead of chicken stock. One of the problems with this dish is that the tails were left on the shrimp that was buried in other ingredients. My cousin tried the lobster and crab meat omelet and we could barely find the meat in it. The chicken on the red velvet waffle was dry and overcooked. Normally do not like posting negative reviews but I have to give an honest experience for potential customers and to give the restaurant a chance to receive the feedback and correct some of the issues. This is my experience someone else may have a different one, but I can’t recommend this place because the taste of the food did not match the presentation.

This is a great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The menu has a wide range of offerings, many of them unique. The servings are generous, and the Atlantic omelet was excellent. Unfortunately, the accompanying house potatoes were just lukewarm warm. The side dish of country ham was thinly sliced and generous. They have a full bar. It’s on a pedestrian mall, which makes it a bit tricky to find. You also have to deal with street parking. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor patio seating area.

Brunch was a blast thanks to the stylish sustenance, the sing-along soundtrack, and of course, the Sriracha. I can see us hitting this spot plenty in the future but will remember to make reservations because it was POPPIN’!

We weren’t too thrilled about our table at first, as we felt somewhat shoved into a corner, causing concern that it would be easy for us to be forgotten. But, alas, our service didn’t suffer in the least and the nearby window allowed us to do some people-watching while we ate.

My wife enjoyed her French Toast, and my Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles were tremendous! The chicken was juicy and tender, and there was so much flavor in every fluffy bite of my waffles that I’m tempted to order a full plate of them next time.

They also offer Mimosas by the pitcher, which even if you don’t drink, you must admit that is pretty wicked.

Chicken, potatoes, french toast, eggs, and shrimp lack flavor. How can you mess all of the food up?? If you have to drown your food in sauce to be able to eat it, that means it is horrible…I ate it because I was super hungry after waiting over an hr and a half to sit and get food… they took people that came later ahead of us… The staff were okay, the server spoke way too low. I would not recommend this place nor would I ever come back. Bright-side the people at the restaurant while we were there were a vibe (positive energy and laughter; they were singing and sounded really nice).

Met up with my sister and decided to just pop in Lulu’s for some brunch and the food was GREAT!!! OMG, I had the lobster omelet, she had the chicken and waffle and we devoured it all. They had multiple flavors of Mimosas, we tried them ALL and every single one of them were good.
The only thing I will say is, their staff looks like they all rolled out of bed and just came to work. Don’t get me wrong, everyone was friendly but their outfits didn’t fit the ambiance. They need to at least wear a restaurant brand t shirt with tennis shoes. It’s such a nice setting but you have waiters in slides and gym shorts. 😆 🤣. I’ll overlook that because everything else was on point. Including the tip, we spent $75. It was well worth it.

I’ve been here a week visiting and this is by far the best place for breakfast. After a short wait we opted for a seat at the back bar. The bartender (I wish I remembered her name) was very friendly and pleasant. The food was AWESOME!! Definitely stop by there when you have time to really enjoy the atmosphere. The waitstaff is all in casual clothes in their own style. I don’t know why I really enjoyed that part. They all seem… happy! Weird I know. Happy food workers. Who ever heard of that!! Lol! Stop by Lulu’s and find out.

I love the name! How could any place named “Lulu’s” disappoint us for breakfast? And Lulu’s did not disappoint! My daughter and I showed up for our 10:30am reservation and I got a ton more than I bargained for! My family had shown up to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had the best long table where I could see all of my family’s faces. Our food was like a smorgasbord of French toast, potatoes, omelettes, bacon, coffee, and more. And it was all delicious. Coffee was darn good too! We were seated in the bar area, and it was almost empty! Definitely will be going back.

Got the chicken biscuit with gravy, eggs, and potatoes . Chicken was not seasoned and tasted a little old. I asked for the gravy on the side and that lacked seasoning as well. The biscuit had an odd aftertaste and didn’t seem freshly baked. The only delight in my meal was the eggs. They were great and well seasoned and potatoes didn’t come out hot. Maybe something else on the menu tastes better 🤷🏽‍♀️ On a positive note the music was deff on point, server was attentive, and water tasted good.

Sat outside nice atmosphere, very spacious bench style seating, good music in the background. Food was a 9 out of 10 only thing that bought it down was the Stonemill grits, in my opinion, no taste just very bland, but that Atlantic seafood omelet was the best. Our waiter was very nice and very polite and even remembered everything we wanted to add and change with our food, but once the food came he kinda forgot about us, my wife waited nearly 20 minutes just for syrup.

It does seem like it’s time for some small enhancements to the atmosphere/setup.

After living in Richmond for three years, I finally stopped by Lulu’s after all of the hype I’ve heard over the years. Honestly, I’m really confused as to why people rave about this place. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffle and it was just okay, nothing spectacular. In addition, the music playing in the background was extremely loud which made it hard for me to hear and communicate with not only the friend I came here with, but with our waiter as well. Kareem, our waiter, was great though.

5 stars go to the employees working today. It was completely swamped for brunch today yet they provided excellent service. The hosts helped de-escalate a situation I was having with another patron in a professional manner. Then we were immediately sat with additional seating they had in the back despite the hour long wait for regular tables. Our server, Josh, was wonderful, attentive, and just a sweet person! Shout out to the whole staff for holding it down during the chaos and going out of their way to make it a great experience for customers.

We were there for Brunch on Sunday, July 2, 2023. The service was fast, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice
It was a little warm today to eat outside. It was comfortable. I had the Red Velvet waffle and chicken. Very , Very delicious. Both Seafood Omelettes were delicious . The Strawberry Shortcake dessert with the Cream Cheese filling was very delicious. The atmosphere was very happy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our waitress was fantastic. It’s a must visit over, and over again. I have been waiting to eat there for a while. It didn’t disappoint. Everything was absolutely delicious !!! ❤️❤️😋😊👍👍👍

It was 90 plus degrees, yet half the guests chose outside seating. Good ‘ole 80s music played in the background, and though we had reservations, there was no wait. We were waited on and served immediately. The spiced corned beef, eggs, French toast, and chicken and waffles were so good that we thought we were in Nawlins. The red velvet Belgian waffle was soft and delightful. I’m a Capital Grille kind of girl, but I would definitely return to Lulu’s on every visit to Richmond.

Dropped by on a casual Tuesday afternoon. Service from Mary was just awful, the poor girl couldn’t tell up from down. Kidding – she was very friendly, laid back, and attentive. I had an Espresso Martini, which was quite good, and the Corned Beef Hash. Great presentation, portion, and flavors happening there. Toss on some avo if you want to splurge (which you should, ofc). It was hot and sunny out, but eating out on their patio was fine before the sun really warmed up.

    Sweet brunch spot

Well let me tell you my service was Reggie was great as our service wonderful guy we loved him it was the bartender with the tattoos that was rude to me and my mother in law and her friends for her birthday. My Mother in law asked the bartender about some slushy drink she told her she can go to the other the side of the restaurant we were thinking that the restaurant had another side, but she was saying another bar or restaurant. That was so unprofessional. She has no customer service skills at all.

I live in the neighborhood and stop here for brunch solo and with friends – every time our servers have been great and super attentive. Red velvet waffles are perfect to me, crisp outside and moist inside, and the chicken is butterflied so it fries up perfectly / is never dry. Food and drinks are consistently on point. Hosts are busy and good at what they do, too.

The only complaints I have are petty. I wish I could take a firehouse to their outside tarps that we eat beside, they do need a good cleaning plus they block out views of the famous 17th market square we’re eating on. Last, I wish eating outside didn’t mean drinking out of togo cups and plastic. This seems to be normal in Richmond I’ve noticed, but it’s a shame to see so much single-use waste going straight into the trash when patrons are dining in the actual restaurant.

Josh was great! I wouldn’t rush back here tbh food was ok. I would not recommend the biscuits though. They did offer to bring me fresh white toast instead which was 100% better. They actually charged for the toast which i just realized. After they gave us that sub par biscuit. Attached are photos of the biscuit very dense and dry. Overall the service was better than the food.

We did not make a reservation and got there around 10am. They were fully booked at the tables inside. They had plenty of seating available outside but I do not like eating outside. Staff allowed our party to eat at the bar which was great. The potatoes were a table favorite a little spicy and delicious. I loved the rough cut of onions in them too. I should’ve asked what cut of chicken is served with chicken and waffles because I don’t care for dark meat. They use a thigh pounded out with a nice coating. The eggs were nice and fluffy. The food came out quickly. Staff was wonderful!

I got breakfast takeout today, and it was definitely subpar. This is only my 2nd time eating here. The first time, it was good from what I remember. But today, I ordered the French toast, side of scrambled eggs and an order of apple bread pudding. It was not good at all! The French toast was average, the eggs were fake and scrambled so hard that the plastic fork couldn’t break it at first and they put pepper in it. The bread pudding was so dry that it was just a brick and had bits of eggshell in it and was almost burnt on the bottom. These three things, along with the fees totaled $30. SMH. I feel so disappointed and like I wasted my money. Probably won’t go back, unless I want one of their staples, like red velvet waffles or something. Only bonus is that the order was done quickly and correct.

DO NOT RECOMMEND IF RESERVING A TABLE FOR A LARGE PARTY.
Called and talked to the manager to reserve a table of 8 for a birthday celebration. I called back before the date to check in and confirm that the reservation is still set. When we got to the restaurant they said that the reservation was cancelled. I was very confused because I was never informed of this. Instead of problem solving with us, they blamed us and said we cancelled on our end even though OpenTables or any other third party wasn’t used, so there was no possible way for me to cancel. They said they were all booked and refused to help. Very disappointing experience and overall customer service, especially from the general manager. Be very cautious when planning and reserving ahead with this restaurant.

Ive been here before covid & after. Before covid was much better. After covid things have changed. Food is ok for most part but is never hot. They’ve changed the chicken breast to thighs & red velvet waffles don’t seem like red velvet just plain waffle w/ food color. I asked about it & they assured its red velvet.

Soulful vibes fill the quaint yet busy restaurant off the square in Shockoe. Glad to be seated inside on a very cold morning, we found ourselves at a two top per our reservation, nestled neatly on the edge of the restaurant. As a tip for the interested diner, book a reservation to avoid being seated outside, as preference goes to those who plan ahead.

There were so many great choices, yet I landed on the chorizo fritatta with a side of bacon, my wife deciding on the red velvet waffles with a side of eggs and grits. This place does not disappoint! The food was lovely, expertly prepared by the kitchen staff with fresh ingredients that rang true, from the veggie garnish to the pecan cream cheese. When I say that this place is a five star experience I do mean you will be seeing stars by the end of the meal. Don’t skimp on the sides, try the fried chicken, and enjoy the approachable, affordable menu with a smile.

Chicken and red velvet waffle meal was so good!! They serve eggs and gravy with it, too, which was awesome to have more protein. We sat on the patio and the heaters were actually super warm. It was 55 degrees but comfy! I probably wouldn’t sit outside much colder than that, though. Our server was phenomenal, and food came out quick. I very much recommend Lulu’s for brunch! And getting a reservation for large parties 🙂

Food was on point. Chorizo omelette was fluffy, full of goodness and 3 eggs huge, as advertised.. service was a little slow, but friendly. Music was a little loud, but I was with my parents and not drinking for context :). Place turned huge with the takeover of the space next door. Not a fan of the patio bc it looks like a construction site with the tacky scaffolding and construction lights vs patio lights, so indoor is still better ambiance.

It’s trendy, chic. I had the chicken Fried Steak and was disappointed. Very little breading and Steak was tough. My wife had the Atlantic omelet and loved it! She said her Irish Cream coffee was warming and potent. I had the Mule and could barely taste the alcohol. Not sure if we’ll return. Parking is impossible. There is a bit of a walk to get there. Bathrooms are hard to get to and not cleaned very well.

I made an online reservation in advance, but when I got here we were seated outside. I asked to move inside but was told that all of those tables were reserved. So even with a reservation I was stuck eating outside in 37 degree weather. The food was okay, but honestly cold and my experience with the host/hostess put a damper on the whole experience.

Booked a reservation for Saturday at 1:15 for brunch. When we arrived we were told there was a one hour and fifteen minute wait for indoor dining (even with our reservation). It was 36 degrees outside and raining (it is January) and they continued to sit my mother and I outside anyway. The hostess was rude and acted as if we were inconveniencing her by being there. We asked for the manager but after 20 minutes we became too cold to wait any longer so we had to leave and go somewhere else to eat. Unfortunate.

This is our 2nd try at lulus. The first time we showed up at 10 am and we’re told we couldn’t be seated until 2, even though the restaurant was close to empty. They were for reservations. So a couple months later we made a reservation. When making it we were prompted for standard seating or outdoor, we selected standard because we DID NOT want to sit outside. When we arrived, we were told we were being put outside. I told them i made the selection on the reservation so that i was not put outside. They said the inside books way in advance in which i told them this reservation was made days ago. After looking at their reservations, we were told would have to wait 1.5 hrs to be seated inside. Being in prime brunch hours we didn’t want to go elsewhere because of potential waits. As we were being led outside, i asked if we could sit at the table closes to the door and was told no, we were being placed in the corner where it was going to be the coldest. The tables were the exact same size. The fact that there are multiple reviews about this same issue, no apologies, and they didn’t even attempt to accommodate anything is very upsetting. There needs to be a disclosure about this when making reservations. The idea of even allowing the whole restaurant to be reserved is bad for business. We saw a lot of tables empty for 30+ minutes.

I went with my father and we ordered the omelet with crab, and oh my god! It was so, so delicious – – definitely recommend for anyone visiting this place. Service was excellent, though the atmosphere can be quite noisy (not a deduction or anything, just a heads up for people thinking of going).

However, as a tip, I don’t recommend ordering the coffee. I normally drink coffee black, but I had to add cream because it was so rancid. Stick with water or the boozy brunch drinks haha

Made reservations here. When we walked in we were not greeted by the hostess. We then told the hostess we had reservations. One of the hostess proceeded to walk us to an outside patio in 40 degree weather and said that the reservations did not guarantee a spot inside the restaurant. Needless to say we did not stay and eat. I won’t be back.

We‘re on a trip for our friends birthday, we sat down, our serve Aaliyah was great however, before we could truly enjoy our experience we were brought one of our meals and a plate we didn’t recognize, with the mystery plate to the side we began to eat off of one plate.
A goth boy who was running food, came to our table taking both plates, the one we ate off and the other, he said they were wrong which was fine, but we then watched him serve them to another customer and they ate our leftovers.
It was Friday the 20th in range of 11:30-12:30, check #54 Table 21.
I will never return to Lulus and it is a shame that one person can ruin a place for countless people.

This was an amazing EXPERIENCE. Where do I start… the establishment is patient, we were running behind trying to get to our reservation, we literally arrived right at the 15 minute mark, not only did they greet us and seat us right away but everyone we encountered was super nice. I was in town to catch up with family and my daughter recommended Lulu’s from bunch and I’m glad she did! I had the tropical mimosa, chicken biscuit with a side of corned beef hash. Listen to me… every bit of that food was melt in your mouth GOOD!!!!!!!! You could tell the food was made fresh to order. What always makes a dining experience ten stars is the customer care and there was no shortage of that. Our server, Andrea, was so nice, she answered all of our questions, made great recommendations and embraced our silliness – she made the experience feel so personal – I had to shout her out in this review, she definitely contributed to the 5 star rating. We will definitely be back to LuLu’s SOON!

  166. Jason Garrigan 2022/11

I’ve eaten there in the past (though it’s been about 3-4 years) and it was awesome. However this wasn’t the best experience. We got there right at opening and sat outside. It was 9am on a Sunday but the vibe they were putting off much more party oriented, music selection and volume was off putting. Coffee was weak, and the food was mediocre at best. Our server was very friendly, though not all items ordered came out with the food so we did have to wait. Probably will only return if its the only spot on OpenTable with availability.

  167. Rachel Nellett 2022/11

Lulu’s is a challenge because you can’t decide whether to get sweet or savory. However, I have no regrets for the red velvet waffles! The pecan butter really makes this dish. My husband had the lobster biscuit as well and loved it. His side order of grits needed a lot of salt, but overall great meal!

It was okay. The service wasn’t great and the “fresh lobster” was not fresh. The food was decent but nothing to rave about.

Thank you so much for always having great food and service! Lulu’s accommodated 6 of us in less than 30 minutes on Sunday afternoon. My out-of-town family members are already planning to return and I’ll be there for an egg and cheese croissant as usual this week.

Do not use the reservation system. Pointless. Watched them seat people before us, who arrived after us, saying it was a 4 person table, when clearly there were plenty of people with 2 in their party sitting at 4 person tables. Really too bad…food is good here. If you have a reservation system. Reserve the table. Don’t just use the system to space out people arriving.

Lulu’s hosted my son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner! Owners Paul and Linda so wonderful and kind to work with as well as staff and chef! The food so eye appealing as well as so good! We so enjoyed the environment too! Came back to explore again now 4 years later and find still the same hospitality with environment such an added plus!

Sunday brunch was delightful! Very cute, clean spot. So many choices, very reasonably priced and delicious! The staff is friendly and prompt. We were seated quickly, at the bar, in spite of not having reservation. Our pretty bartender with the spectacular hair took great care of us. We had sandwiches: The croissant sandwich and BLT with avocado. They were the best! Savory, tender and just good. The potatoes were seasoned so well they didn’t need a thing added – nope, not even ketchup, but help yourself cause they’re good naked or sauced. Nice cup of coffee too! 🙏🏽
By the time we left, a line had formed… deservedly so. One challenge: what to get next time??!!

Came here from NC to get away. Hadn’t had an appetite for 2 days and as soon as I walked by I turned around and walked in. Ordered the Atlantic omelet and it was beyond stellar. Their staff are just as amazing as the food. I highly recommend stopping in and getting ANYTHING! Btw the mimosas slap; I was feeling great forgetting about the drama that brought me here.

Had The Atlantic. Was done well. Plenty of crab and lobster. Hollandaise wasn’t as full of flavor as I’m used to but it wasn’t bad. I’d call it light. Folks that got the chicken and waffles and we’re pleased. The potatos were pretty good also. Got the Bacon Bloody. It was suuper smokey. I added some of the hot sauce on the table. I like it spicier than the way it came.

Good place for brunch with a lively environment. Make sure you have reservations if you’re going there during the weekends. Mimosas are very good except I wish they didn’t give us single use cups for mimosas. The fried chicken was super yummy with right amount of spices. Great service.
Pro tip: while making reservations, ask for tables outdoor or in the main area inside the restaurant or else you will end up sitting in the alley near washrooms.

I feel like the biscuits and gravy should’ve been way better, I wasn’t impressed at all. Service was great and everyone else’s food was good. Adlai, there is no sign outside of it wasn’t visible so when we were looking for it, it took a minute because we weren’t familiar with the area.

This place was amazing!! I have visited here on two separate occasions while on a leisure trip from Atlanta.
I have not been disappointed with the food nor the service.
The chicken and red velvet waffle was a delight, the fried potatoes are amazing.
I also had the seafood omelet the seasoning was great and also in the egg. Which was a plus for me. I hate to taste the egg separate from the other ingredients.
The server was amazing and attentive she over heard us mention about drink selection WE choose but did not like and immediately corrected it. She did not have too BUT coming from a customer service background and the lack there of in soooo many business these days. It was a major plus.
This place will continue to be one I will return when visiting Virginia for sure.

This place is ok. The location is really nice and I like their outdoor dining options. The meals are decent, but I wish the menu had more simple side options (fresh fruit bowl, yogurt, etc.) The service wasn’t very engaging and I received a notification stating that I missed my reservation despite the fact that the host seated me when I arrived 2 minutes before my scheduled time.

I just expected more from a place with prime real estate…

Went there for brunch. I should have reserved a table to avoid the 50 minute wait, but Sunday brunch is pretty popular, so who knows. Anyway, we both ordered omelets and let me say, omg, it was beyond satisfying. When you cut a piece and you have to twirl the excess cheese around your fork…….let’s just say I’m smiling just thinking about it. Yeah, I’m definitely going back and I’m recommending Lulu’s to everyone & their mama.

We have been wanting to come here for a few years. I was a tad disappointed in the food. The waffles & French toast made up for it little.

I ordered a side of eggs, sausage, potatoes, sausage gravy & biscuit (I wanted to try a mixture of things to see what I liked). The sausage gravy is amazing. Definitely something I could come back & order. The fried potatoes were too spicy for my taste. It definitely tasted as if they had too much pepper or too much of something. The eggs are ok. The sausage is great as well. The biscuits are HUGE!

Now onto what the hubby ordered. Which was a side of red velvet waffles & French toast. Both were refreshingly delicious.

I also got hot chocolate which tasted like more milk or water than actual hot chocolate. Presentation was ok though.

Would I revisit? Maybe to try something different.

Solid experience, had a unique selection of mimosas (I had the Brazilian mimosa) and their red velvet chicken and waffle was on point. I don’t really have any complaints other than it can feel a tad cramped once it gets busy.

Oh, man. I had this place saved for months in my “want to go to” list. I was incredibly excited for the red velvet waffle, but it was just a mediocre red colored waffle. No hints of chocolate, or anything, really. The “fried chicken” that came with it was an untrimmed, flattened, skinless, boneless chicken thigh. This is a terrible cut of chicken to throw in the fryer. It was sinewy and wet. I think the breading and seasoning might have better complimented a different cut of chicken. Or just leave the bone in and skin on. Or give me a chicken tender and make it a sandwich! Way better tasting and a much better presentation than a piece of flaccid chicken on half of a waffle. The sausage gravy that accompanied this entree was a bit too thin to call gravy, so I didn’t try it. Also not quite sure where I was supposed to put it. The eggs and potatoes were fine enough. My husband had the chorizo omelette and liked it, but not enough to come back due to our drink choice. We ordered the Brazilian mimosa pitcher, which you definitely have to stir or shake to not get a full cup of rum first pour. Or maybe you just want to fill up your clear Solo cup first. There was no glassware. The sparkling wine was cheap tasting (I wasn’t expecting anything other than Andres or whatnot, but don’t make me taste it!) and there was hardly any pineapple juice. I’m all for a cheap drink, but $35 for a pitcher of a stomach ache is just not for me. Plenty of other places in a two mile radius are doing this better. I think this would be a great spot for VCU students or anyone hungover in the Bottom. The service was great, it’s easy to make a reservation (definitely do that!), and there’s a lot to see and walk to if you need to sweat out that cheap champagne. Overall, I won’t be back, but I think this place is just fine if you are not as snobby as this review sounds (I just love my food!), and spending over $30 per person for a just okay brunch works for you. I’m all for supporting a local business, but wouldn’t want to mislead anyone. If you’re not a culinary snoot and you want to taste the alcohol in your drink (hello VCU), this is your spot. I hope this review helps both owner and consumer.

Long story short: the food is way overpriced for the quality and flavor, and I would not recommend it to anyone, nor would I return. However, I do think they have really interesting ideas, and the presentation of the food looks great.
    Read below for more information:

I am not commenting about the decor, or music choice; this review is only about quality and flavor of the food. However, if you are someone who does not enjoy listening to a 7th grade pandora playlist of alternative rock music during breakfast/ brunch, the atmosphere may be off putting to you.

What we ordered: Red velvet waffles and lobster biscuit with hollandaise sauce.

The red velvet waffles are just food dye, you don’t taste anything special about them; they don’t taste like red velvet and I honestly could make something like this at home. They give very little cream cheese and small sides in a plastic cup, which in my opinion feels kinda cheap for the price and atmosphere.

The lobster omelette biscuit only had salt as the seasoning. Lobster pieces tasted frozen with no seasoning. I’ve had better omelettes from I hop.
Ironically, the potatoes had lots of pepper and some other spices that completely over seasoned the vegetables, kind of like that one aunt who brings vegetables to the potluck and you know your mom can make the same thing but better.

If they have a head chef at this restaurant, either he doesn’t know how to blend flavours correctly, or the owner isn’t letting him do his job. The thing is, if you know how to cook the food is just okay. If you don’t cook often, you probably will enjoy it. Also, they charge 4$ for cheap grocery store apple juice; I watched them pour it.

The one positive was their ideas for the menu. Red velvet waffles are a great idea if you actually make it taste like red velvet. Lobster omelette is good if the lobster is fresh and the flavors can complement each other. Maybe they are charging so much because the rent in that area is expensive.

Booth shook and made tons of noise. Concerned glass was going to fall on our heads several times. Resturant was extremely loud. Waiter was interesting (leather pants, gold sequined jacket and a lapel pin made of bone – great for a club not a waiter). Delivered coffee, no spoons. Coffee was barely warm when a waitress bought us spoons (which we had to ask for). Food arrives. 1 Dish had raw eggs whites and waiter wanted to argue they were appropriately cooked. Then offered to finish cooking the eggs already on the plate. 2 dishes – eggs over cooked. No salt/pepper/spices – also no lobster. 1 dish was a “sandwich” according to the menu, it was not. Side of bacon was flavorless, greasy and over cooked – think high school cafeteria bacon. “Hash browns” on all plates were mostly black grease – you know? The stuff you scrape in the trash can before wiping the grill down to cook new food. 4 people out of 6 did not finish food. And did not want take home boxes. Did waiter ask if food was ok? NOPE. Did not offer to have a manager speak to the table either. No coffee refills offered. Asked for the bill. THE WRONG BILL WAS BOUGHT. Then the waiter wanted to argue it was our bill. REALLY? We have 6 coffees, bill says 1. And they added a 20% gratuity without having stated it and no posted sign about it either. Did the waiter just take it upon himself to add it? Unknown. Don’t bother calling, they never answer the phone and the voicemail is full. I’ve worked in the Industry for years, as have 2 others In our party. A complete cluster f*ck. Will not be going back.

Yesterday we were in the city of Richmond and decided to try this restaurant based off google reviews! After completing our meal my daughter who was sitting at the end of the table in a high chair pointed out that a mouse was under our bench! We called the waitress over and let her know the first thing she said was “LETS GO AHEAD AND CLEAR THE CHECKS” so me and my friend who is currently gagging at this moment look at each other and then asked for a manager! She walks off for a brief second then comes back and say “My manager will be out here to pick it up” He/She never came out! Without causing any commotion we paid and went to the front! I let the other waitress and waiter know that we saw a mouse under our seat and I don’t believe the girl ever told the manager about it! They were totally freaked out and way more sincere and apologetic for the mishap!! Its crazy we still had to pay for our food with no type of accommodation or a sincere apology from the manager! I will never eat here again and Im also contacting the health department soon as they open!! I am super sick to my stomach to even had this experience from them!!

I wanted to give this place more stars, because the food was actually good, but the customer service was lacking. I was in town to visit my son. We wanted to sit in a larger table, but they refused, even though the outside patio was empty. The excuses ranged from ‘we have reservations’ to later ‘it’s for a 4 top’, even though all of the tables are for 4 tops, and there were no reservations. So, I’m not sure what the truth actually was. No one sat at those tables throughout our stay. I spoke to the manager who just said ‘sorry’. So, I’ll skip this restaurant in the future.

  214. Priscilla Lumbres 2022/06

Our first visit at Lulus for breakfast. Food was amazing and surpassed our expectations. We chose the dishes that we’ve read in other reviews recommended we should try and it did not disappoint. Red velvet waffles are definitely a hit. My son loved them. And I chose the Atlantic omelette and it was delicious. My favorite is the home fries. I truly enjoyed the spice on them. We most definitely will be returning soon!

  215. AJ Jenkins 2022/06

Have been here 2 or 3 times before with my husband, but I took my mom here recently for Sunday brunch and she had their shrimp and grits, which she absolutely loved. She had no leftovers. I pretty much get the same thing everytime which is the chicken and half a red velvet waffle, it never disappoints. Very chill vibe and the customer service is always friendly with a smile. Wait time on Sundays is insane! They told us the wait time for a table was one hour and we literally got an alert exactly an hour later that our table was ready. We killed time walking around, because there is so much to see and do around that area, and we even tried the new Cafe Beignet shop a few doors down from Lulu’s. Highly recommend Lulu’s for brunch if you haven’t already been there.

I had a great experience 1st time even told co workers they accompanied me the second visit, totally different. The waitress didn’t write the order and the order was wrong, brushed me off when we returned for correction, cooks cooking not using gloves, biscuits and gravy had very little gravy she gave us more but told us it was on the house, really?I will not return. I’ve eaten at restaurants all over the world and eat at different restaurants in Richmond and in va,I do not like to be treated this why when I’m spending good money. Good luck to them in the future hope they do better but I have no more use for them.

I had a fun time at Lulu’s. The mimosas were very good and generously poured, the waitress was very polite and attentive, and that red velvet waffle was on point. The chicken was freshly battered and fried, the potatoes were cooked perfectly, and the eggs were fluffy and delicious.

I love this place. The service was great. I particularly loved the red velvet waffles. The house potatoes were awesome! I like the subtle spicy kick to it.

We were in town for the weekend and knew we needed some good food to start off our morning. We are SO HAPPY we found Lulus. I had the florentine eggs with country ham and pimento cheese and … I just cannot tell you how amazing these eggs were. I will probably think about these eggs for the rest of my life. I will likely try to duplicate them and will fail miserably. The eggs were poached to perfection. The home fries on the side packed a little punch and it was perfection. If I ever find myself in RVA again Lulus will be the first place I stop!!

Also, our waitress Aaliyah was great!!

There’s a nice vibe to Lulus but the service was strange. Food was good but we had to ask for items that the menu said came with our meal after being served.

I’m very curious why this is considered so good. I am writing your review while still in the restaurant about to leave. We ordered shrimp and grits add a biscuits and huevos rancherous. Everything is bland, zero seasoning. The vegetables have no taste and very similar to what you would expect if they were frozen. We added table salt and pepper and still barely any flavor. We stopped eating with half of our plates still remaining.

I believe people come not for quality but for quantity. The plates are completely full. But I for one eat to enjoy my food, not just for calorie intake.

Lulus Sunday brunch was outstanding! My wife thought she would order a dainty meal and ordered a fried egg, bacon, cheese croissant sandwich for $9.00 That thing was the size of my chest. Lol 😂 but delicious. Combined with the perfectly seasoned potatoes WOW! I had the crab omelette with the PSP. Again WOW! It was absolutely delicious. The crab tasted like the meat just came out of the Chesapeake. Combined with the their perfectly seasoned potatoes it was off the chain. Everyone including my waiter was OUTSTANDING!!! Other reviewers mention the loud music. All I can say is make sure your Shazam app is up to date because you may want to add some of their music to your library. But no, not too loud, at least not for us 50 year old plus folks.
Parking may be questionable if you have 4, 2, or 3 wheels you really care about. Parking here is not for the faint of heart. Not theft concerns, for me, but scratches and dings may be possible. Local parking, I bet, is Not LULUS design but the City of Richmond’s.
Download the ParkMobile app. Parking cost was about $6.00 for 4 hours with the app. Free parking might be found in the curb. There are no free parking days at the parking lots that I found.
    ENJOY the food!

BTW. Beer list, go with the 16 Oz can PBR for $5.00 Pabst Blue Ribbon goes with everything and everyone. Classic!

I was visiting RVA and came to eat on a sunday after reading the reviews and all the star ratings. My food came luke warm to room temperature. My eggs where over cooked. Potatoes almost room temperature. French toast was barely dipped in eggs n cream. And the worst part was the buttermilk biscuit. It was like some aunt Jemima box mix pancakes cooked in oven recipe n some sort. Chewy n rubbery. Not a buttermilk biscuit… Don’t know what that was….
They syrup was a cheap generic restaurant sugar syrup. The strawberry compote was watery n runny.
The only goodthing was the cinnamon creme Fraiche… They didnt buy that.

Two stars because the server at the bar… She wears attentive. Otherwise this is a total disappointment.
Y’all have some serious bad taste to give this place all this hype…

I’m afraid to go out to eat again while I’m staying here .. Another recommendation for best doughnut in town was a disappointment as well

Even though I gave them 3 Stars doesn’t mean that LuLu’s is not a Good place to eat. Let me tell you my story, we came here for Brunch on my daughter’s Birthday and had Good food. My meal was The Stone Milled Shrimp and Grits. The Grits were a bit looser than to my liking and not salted, but maybe I should have asked for a thicker grit. But “The Red Velvet Waffles Dessert” was Amazing nothing bad about it. Check out LuLu’s.

Well I now have a new Breakfast/Brunch restaurant to go to when I’m in Richmond, Virginia! First let me start out by saying it’s a must that you go online and make a reservation. We waited 45 minutes to be seated but that was not a problem for me because I knew what yummy goodness awaited. Once we were seated we were greeted by a super awesome server named Rahsheedah! She was super nice and made us feel at home. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions pertaining to the drinks and the menu. After looking over the menu and placing our order our food came out in about 15 minutes or less. Everything was fixed exactly the way we ordered it. After tasting the food I knew right away that I wouldn’t be taking anything home to go because I was going to eat everything because it was so delicious. I am definitely looking forward to doing brunch again ASAP next time I’m in Richmond Virginia. The food was great and the service was amazing! See ya soon. 😋🤤

I highly recommend Lulu’s for their hospitality and delicious food! We’re so happy that we chose them to host our engagement brunch. Their events manager, Aaron, responded quickly to our questions and accommodated all of our requests. Lulu’s provided a private room for our guests and Kenzie and Shelly took excellent care of our large party. Their chicken & red velvet waffles and mimosas were very popular with our guests. Lulu’s will make your special event a memorable one!

I was introduced to this place my friend we went there for breakfast had reservations for 9 AM we were surprised that we were taken all the way to the back section instead of the front section we need to leave we’re asked about our drinks receive those pretty quickly but after that we waited about 25-30 minutes before anybody came to take our food order or check on us in general which to get somebody to do that we actually had the flag somebody down which was a totally different person and the person should drink water after that I’m surprised that they offered Earl Grey tea with lemon and honey versus with milk which if you know it already has a citrus Factor to it but that wasn’t the worst part then as we were trying to join builder interrupted several times during this eating it asking if we were done or if you needed boxes before we could even gotten halfway through

Had a good meal. Three people had chicken and waffles they thought it was tasty. I just had chicken and potatoes….the boneless fried chicken thigh was delicious but the potatoes needed salt and pepper and they were cold. I thought it was weird to have a mimosa with ice…the ice watered down the drink. Would I go back? Sure.

Our waitress disappeared for a while but I have accepted that if I’m going to dine out during COVID I need to be patient and gracious. I had the crab omelette (SO GOOD) and my wife had chicken and waffles. We did a tropical mimosa pitcher – I’d say they’re ideal for 2 people, no more than 3 if you really wanna drink. Glad we went! I recommend reservations during the weekend.

I would definitely recommend and I WILLL DEFINITELY BE BACK…

  264. Susan Morris 2021/11

Music was super loud for 9:15am. Food was just ok – Eggs Benedict came out with no Hollandaise and when we asked for it, it was brought out in a plastic ketchup dipping dish and was cold. Disappointed as we’ve enjoyed Lulu’s in the past.

  265. D T 2021/11

Overall Lulu’s was a very nice place to eat. It really is literally a hidden gem. The food was very good and the service was above average.

Conversely, the drinks (especially the Bloody Mary & Maria) lacked flavor and were just ok, but weren’t the worst I’ve had.

If you’re ever in Downtown Richmond, want a decent breakfast, and can wait until 9am (because that’s when they open), Lulu’s is a good place to try.

    Really enjoyable brunch spot.
    Covered outdoor seating, relaxed environment.
Chorizo frittata was delicious, wife and I are still trying to figure out how their biscuit was made: cake like in thickness but not overly dense, textured but not too dry and crumbly.

Awesome service and pretty good food.

Our waitress was super attentive. They don’t serve chocolate milk, but she kindly made one for our table. Super kind of her! I was told I needed to order the Red Velvet Waffles, so of course I obliged. I know they are known for this dish and they were stunning to look at, but the traditional red velvet flavor wasn’t incredibly strong. It was a good waffle. The pecan cream cheese was the real highlight of the dish. It was incredible! We also ordered the TOA omelette, half an order of french toast, biscuit, and scrambled eggs. The TOA omelette was packed with tomato, onions, and cheese. It was topped with a generous amount of avocado! The seasoned potatoes at Lulu’s are incredible. They are heavy on the spice (which I believe to be cumin, chili powder, onion powder, S&P), but pair well with the mildness of eggs. The biscuit was like a huge pillow! Awesome biscuit! French toast was well-made and came with the same delightful accompaniments as the waffles, which made it better. All-in-all it was a solid brunch, well priced, with generous portions. I enjoyed the atmosphere too.

The first time I ate at this place was on Friday 8/27 and we were waited on by Aaliyah. This day wasn’t busy, our food was hot, the waitress was amazing. Today my experience was horrible. First off I had reservations, and some of my guests were present which one of them had a small child with them. When I asked the hostess if I could sit down she had an attitude. A young lady with braids African-American was the hostess. Then the waitress (has green dye in her hair) seemed neglectful. When our food was brought out no one brought us silverware. I had to literally walk up to my waitress while she was waiting on other customers and say hello can we please have some silverware before our food gets cold. She did not come back and check on us after the food came out. Also food was cold. Then when she brought the water out to us none of the cups had tops on them. Then they had a nerve to charge us gratuity. When we told the manager we had an issue he seemed very nonchalant. I don’t know if it’s because it was busy that people were feeling pressured or anxious, but I was not pleased today. I feel like when I asked to speak to the manager one of the ladies seemed nonchalant when I asked. You all are serving the public think about that. Think about how you would want your experience to be if you go to a restaurant. I’m not sure what’s going on but Lulu‘s y’all need to get it together. PERIOD!

Great location for a brunch spot. I don’t think they can meet the quality for their demand at this point. I’ve tried this place twice and it’s mediocre at best. The mimosas are good but the food is not really worth it. You can go for the atmosphere and views. Chicken n biscuits was a sad attempt. Shrimp and grits weren’t seasoned at all. Service is nice though. Also skip the bacon they microwave it.

Today my party of 8 was wanting to experience and enjoy a brunch meal on this gorgeous Sunday. We traveled over an hour just to experience this restaurant. Not only did the hostess tell me that they could not seat my party, after telling him we could split tables he still declined and said “there was not enough room”.I being a military veteran who traveled said to him “What do you mean we can’t be seated, THERE IS OUTSIDE DINING and we are fine with that” …he proceeded to stand up and look out of the window and say “well okay”. I was shocked at how persistent I had to be to even get seated. WELL we changed our minds and was going to get our food to go BUT THE EXPERIENCE WAS SO DAUNTING I told him THANK YOU but we will be GOING ELSEWHERE. I felt so uncomfortable that a business did not want to seat us and we were there hours before they closed. We got food from the restaurant next to Lulus which was HOT CHICKS and the manager Allison there gave EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AND GOT A GREATER TIP! Disappointed after driving over an hour JUST FOR THIS RESTAURANT OF LULU’S!

  277. J R 2021/09

I’ve had one 5-star experience and one 3-star experience… so I am splitting the difference. The mimosas are AMAZING. Get one of the options with the floats and you will not be disappointed. The corned beef hash is awesome! The chorizo was underwhelming with no traditional flare. The bacon was so thin and had no flavor. I definitely return- but for the corned beef hash and mimosas. I’m not sure I’d try anything else.

TL;DR – CHECK YOUR ITEMIZED BILL TO MAKE SURE TIP ISN’T ALREADY ADDED! (even for a small party)

I almost never leave reviews but felt like I had to for my experience here.

The first issue was that the eggs Benedict ordered by one of our party came out extremely overcooked, and cold. It seemed like it had been sitting out while the rest of our food was prepared. The poached eggs were completely solid, the English muffins were soggy. The potatoes and asparagus were cold. When we let our server know she acted quite put-out. Their solution was to bring out 2 more poached eggs, but left us with the rest of the dish… meaning we were supposed to switch out the eggs ourself? I’m not sure what they expected us to do with the overcooked eggs. We had to ask specifically to have the dish taken away and re-made, but when they brought it back, there was only 1 poached egg instead of 2 (and still overcooked). I spoke with the manager. We got a lot of excuses but never a real apology. They did ask us if we wanted to replace the dish but by that time we were all pretty much done eating and the person in our party who ordered the Benedict was pretty grosssed out and just wanted to leave. They did at least take the dish off our bill, of course, but I was overall very unimpressed with the customer service for this issue. They were defensive and not gracious about it at all.

The second issue I noticed later. Even though we were only a party of 3, they automatically added a tip (the sign at the front of the restaurant said tip would be included for parties of 6 or more), which of course you can’t tell when they give you the iPad to sign (the itemized receipt does not show up automatically, just the total). AND the option to add a tip still pops up!!! This to me seems like not just a mistake, but purposeful. So I ended tipping double for sub-par service.

The whole experience wasn’t awful. We got a pitcher of the peach schnapps mimosa, which was great. One of us got the huevos rancheros and another the chicken and biscuit, both of which were great. Despite those pluses, I don’t think I could go back here because of the dishonesty with the tipping issue, and the relatively poor customer service in dealing with (reasonable, I thought) complaints. Super disappointing, especially since this place came highly recommended by so many people.

I have visited this place several times because the food is good though the customer service is horrible. I won’t be going there anymore.
on Sunday, 12/13/2020, I watched one of the cooks (who was wearing a Blue Nationals Bandana as his face covering) scoop potatoes off of a plate into the serving pot with the rest of the potatoes with his BARE hands. If that wasn’t gross enough, a server came behind him and placed a scoop of potatoes onto a new plate and served it to someone. This is beyond gross in general and extra careless during this pandemic.
I can say so much about the service, or shall I say the lack of service towards people of color but I won’t because Potato Gate was/is enough for me to never go back.

Cute/trendy atmosphere & the food and service are great!
**Ideal for Sunday brunch!** Indoor & outdoor dining is available.
The Atlantic omelet is absolutely delicious. I’ve consistently enjoyed visiting.
However, because the establishment (food & service) is so amazing…
    **Personal recommendation: Make reservations**

This was a nice bunch spot to eat on a weekend outing to Richmond. I had the corn beef hash. My kids had crab omelette and french toast. The crab omelette left weird aftertaste. Other than that other dishes were delicious. The courtyard where LuLus is located has an array of nice eateries and restaurants. Definitely consider reservations if want to get a seat on busy days.

Had the Atlantic Omelette this morning and it was awesome!! Seasoned well. Great service and environment. Great Mimosas. Best breakfast I’ve had in Richmond!!

AVOID WEEKENDS! We had a 1:30 Sunday reservation and finally cancelled and left after standing outside in the cold from 1:20-2:10. Still 2 parties ahead of us waiting to be seated when we cancelled with the host. Happy a business is doing so well, but if it’s drawing that much of a crowd, probably more convenient to either do reservation only or no reservations at all.

  299. Nicole Davis 2021/06

This was absolutely the worst experience I’ve had coming to this restaurant. Weirdly the bar tender was also the manager on 10/03/2 @ 12:12. We waited longer for our food than we did to be seated. The bar tender / manager Makayla K. gave the worst service. We paid for our drinks and left.

    2 visit Review:
visit 1 This place is always packed so I was expecting AMAZING. The food was good, but not spectacular. The service was good as well. The chicken and waffles was tasty, but very spicy….like hot sauce spicy. That wasn’t indicated on the menu. The potatoes were also very spicy and the sausage gravy was also spicy. Lots of spice.. so if you don’t dig that sort of thing it may turn you off. They also add the gratuity. We have a family of six, I am not sure if that standard or because they assumed we need multiple tickets, which we didn’t.

2nd visit: well my final verdict is the food is oK. Not spectacular, not terrible, just average. The french toast taste like bread and milk not flavourful. The shrimp and grits was an average portion the busict was NOT worth 2.50 extra. The visit also was a little tough it wasn’t the typical buttermilk biscuit. The mimosa was strong. The corn beef hash was chucks of corn beef and potatoes. I was looking for a little more but it was just ok. The asparagus was delicious and I don’t even like asparagus. The service was great

Please note reservations are your friend… Came here to celebrate a birthday. The brunch was truly like that. Make sure to get the pitcher of mimosa’s. I had the chicken and Waffle truly I can’t not complain. I do wish it was bone in chicken however, it was truly seasoned accordingly. We dined outside however, they do have great seating inside as well. I’ve added Lulu’s to monthly visit list for sure. You will not be disappointed with your visit.

Weekday brunch. Not crowded that day, so fast seating and service. Food was okay. Sent the French toast back because the inside was too gummy. Don’t recommend the cheese Grits (cold, used milk and lumpy 🤢). Red velvet waffles were delicious😋! Mimosas were average but different varieties and available in pitcher. Not a bad place to grab brunch with friends and downtown Richmond. Will be back to try other items on menu.

There was an unexpected opportunity to dine at 1245 prior to my 130 reservation and this was just the beginning of beautiful surprises that LuLu’s offered. Our server Aaliyah was obviously catering to more than one table, but her quality of service never altered. Now the star of the meal was the Corned Beef Hash which surpassed many of it’s counterparts that usually resemble that of a canine meal; NOT the case at LuLu’s. Much to my delight there were chunks of corned beef that had been slow simmered in divine seasonings you could taste in every bite. Don’t just take my word for it; try it yourself-word to the wise Reserve your right to Enjoy!

Surprised that this place has so many good reviews. My Chicken and biscuits were awful. Chicken was over fired to the point where it would have been easy to chewy my leather wallet than the chicken and the egs were raw and cold and the biscuits were extremely salty. My wife’s egg and benny was cold as well and the poached eggs seamed boiled mess.

Food and service was Great! Would like LuLu s to consider adding regular waffles to the menu. Red velvet is good but sometimes would like the basics.

  330. Symone Sylvester 2021/02

I’ve only been here once or twice prior to this and one was an ok experience (hence the 2 stars instead of 1) while the other was a miss. Today was a miss and I probably won’t be back. You would think that if a server spills an entire glass of water on a customer and their table, that they would offer to move said customer and their group to a different table and/or take something off their bill. Neither happened, so I got to eat my food (which was great to be fair) while soaking wet with a puddle of water underneath my feet. It also didn’t help that the door was constantly being opened and closed and made the area I was sitting in pretty chilly. Really disappointing.

Man! I loved this place. The service was outstanding and the FOOD was so amazingly delicious. Went with my mother in law and a family friend. It was more of a lunch brunch thing and perfect! Only thing I would suggest is that they give the option to have a regular waffle instead of only having a red velvet waffle. Will definitely return. Food in Richmond, this is the worst! I mean absolute managed garbage. The worst spot to eat at. Customer service, forget that . Lulu you guys overwhelming spirit of freedom is too much and deserving to customers of your restaurant. Respectful the food was dog food. The waffle didn’t taste way our waitress said it would be. Eggs were nasty, bacon was like your slice thinned paper. Apple juice was the only good thing they have going for them right now. If id were reading this I am an average person just like you and I’m telling you don’t eat here.

  338. Jerald Smith 2021/01

The only reason this isn’t a 5 star rating is due to the wait time for food. Wasn’t a big deal because the are always packed and it was well worth the wait. Our waitress Amanda was amazing. Lulu’s was a complete disappointment that I didn’t even get the opportunity to experience. I was totally looking forward to enjoying the red velvet waffles however they were very busy and unwilling to even attempt accommodate a large party of 8 people. So we inquired about placing a to go order. The hostess simply said go talk to the bartender and they will take the order. After the bartender took the order he indicated that they charge a 20% service charge for to go orders. We declined to continue with the order because it seemed unfair to pay a service charge for a to go order that we preferred to enjoy at the establishment. They were simply unwilling to accommodate. We were not even given an option to wait until there was available seating even though we were there several hours prior to closing.

  342. WILHELMINA SAUNDERS-OKOLI 2020/11

The atmosphere was great, no long wait, but it will be best to make reservations. We were told it would be 45 minutes, someone did not show for reservation so we only waited 5minutes. Food was amazing.

  343. CecileC 2020/11

Lulus is always hit or miss for me. The first time I went, the pancakes were burnt, second time, the crab omelette was amazing, the third time I had the Atlantic, I think it’s called, omlette was underwhelming as there was hardly any filling besides cheese. The 4th time I had the red velvet waffle, which had definitely been sitting out for some time. The flavor was good and I wanted to love it but it was cold and dense and so very very dry. The strawberry syrup that comes with it makes it palatable.

I really want to love Lulus as brunch is everyone’s favorite meal of the day. Might I suggest to the owners consider adding pudding to the waffle batter mix? A good waffle is slightly crispy on the edges and moist and tender on the inside. This was akin to eating a dried out sponge cake. I say all of this with love of course 😁♥️

I have only had breakfast here but what I had was delicious. The restaurant is located in a cool part of old Richmond. It can be a little tricky to find as Google directions take you down a small alley. Walk to the end of the alley and hand a right. It’s a few places down. There are a wide variety of breakfast options. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. I would recommend trying it out.

  345. chris Casby 2020/11

The food was good and the staff was friendly. All the staff I encountered were wearing masks and there were disposal plastic wrapped flatware and touchless menu options. Inside seating did seem a tad crowded for my taste. Fortunately, it was a beautiful day outside so we sat outdoors. Overall, a very good experience.

This was a first visit for my family and I and it was ok. I had the TOA omelette and it was pretty basic and the house potatoes were spicy and a tasty over seasoned. Overall, my dish was ok for the price. My husband had chicken and waffles and he liked his meal. I wish they had other meat options besides pork and the fried chicken. Overall, I’ll give this spot another try and hopefully find something I really enjoy.

I was able to experience this place at Cafe Clang during the week which might make a difference but it shouldn’t. Friend and I ordered hot chocolate, wasnt really chocolate-y and was barely hot. My friend had to ask to have his heated up, still wasnt all that hot. We ordered food, and no offense to the person in control of the music but im not trying to listen to Rising Appalachia for that long. When we got our food, it was cold. Like COLD. And then when my friend said something to the waitress, who was nice, she said it was all JUST made that she saw them make it, which i could hardly believe. I got chicken/biscuit and the chicken was tasty just really thin and EXTREMELY dry, hard to chew. We both only ate half of our mediocre meals and the waitress took 10% off or check which was nice but unfortunately I wasn’t in town for many days and wasted a great brunch opportunity on this place. I hope they can figure out what went wrong here and fix it for future guests.

Ordered LuLu’s takeout for Brunch on Saturday for a picnic with friends (they also ordered). I picked up all 3 meals and got to the park to realize they left out my French Toast and only put my added on side in the bag. Called to get a refund but got no answers several times. Left a voicemail and my fiancé went in on Sunday to get a refund. They stated that only the manager could give her a refund and he wasn’t in. Claimed the manager would call later that day but we never received a call. Food wasn’t great (chicken was dry) but the customer service was worse than the food.

Ok so I decided to go eat here bc I wanted a quick breakfast.. I originally wanted French toast but for 11$ no sides I passed ..

My second visit to LuLu’s, and still an excellent experience. My first visit I was able to sit outside, which was lovely on a breezy summer day.

The interior is cozy and modern and much larger than I had imagined. My second visit the server was a bit off-her-game (neglected our waters, but no big deal) but was still friendly and served everything hot and quick.

We walked in and looked around to see if there was an empty table and were curtly told by the bartender (there were 3 people at the bar, and empty seats there), that there was not room for us. Not “would you like to wait?”, not even “How can I help you today?”…… Just, “We dont have room for 4 people!”

AND THEN, went back to her customers at the bar, shaking her head and rolling her eyes about us with her customers….. Acting like we had done something wrong….

I have over 20 years food service experience, and I am a CMS certified sommelier….. I have never been treated like that at a restaurant, and I have only rarely heard of people being treated like this. I would have sent that person home and taken over the bar had I seen that at my restaurant.

I hope you can do better in the future.

Also, if you read the other reviews on here, the only time they take time to respond to customers is to thank them if they say nice things.

They dont appear to be interested in addressing customer complaints or concerns.

    Bush league.

My son took me for My Birthday Nice establishment, The food looked Amazing However the food was bland meaning it had no taste to it. I sent my chicken back because it was hard. The waitress bought out fresh chicken but it still wasn’t good. I won’t be going back.

The food took forever to come and when asked about it the hostess said food was made to order. Not true! My daughter went downstairs to see the waffles just sitting in the window waiting on chicken, which means the waffles were not hot when the food came. The chicken was flavorful but dont know if that was the seasoning or the old grease. They were more concerned if we had paid the bar tab instead of getting us food at a reasonable time.

Make a reservation. Especially if you want to sit on the patio. The food is delicious and they have outside table seating for 4 and then picnic bench seating for 2. We sat on the patio and had great service. We sat at the bench table for 2 and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Irish coffee to start which is served in a paper cup with plastic wire to use. The menu is a qr code and they thoroughly clean the table and seating before the next group is sat. I had the TOA omelets with roasted potatoes. The 3 egg omelet has tomatoes onions White cheddar and a generous smear of avocado on top. The roasted potatoes are little spicy but my friend added Sriracha sauce on the side and enjoyed it. She also had bacon added to her TOA omelet. The white cheddar is melted wonderfully and leaves a trail of cheese as you pull your fork from the omelet. The food is delicious and it is a nice atmosphere. It is causal but people were dressed from workout clothes to nice dresses and button up shirts .Some people bought their dog with them. I will definitely visit again.

Always a killer brunch place where you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Normally great service suffers a bit when under stress of crowds, staff is warm but a bit chaotic. Will definitely go back but I recommend off peak times if you can engineer it.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles. The mimosas were also great and unique. Staff was welcoming and I’ll definitely be back.

This place is a Richmond staple. If you don’t make reservations plan on getting there early or waiting because the brunch crowd is dedicated to this place. Food is delicious – elevated diner style. The service is sometimes a little slow because they get so packed.

This was my first time trying out this spot. From the pictures the food looked amazing, but that’s not the case. My fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were not done all the way. The fried potatoes had an acquired taste baste on the seasoning that they use. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffles it was ok but not the best I had better at IHOP. The mimosas need to be made with a sweeter sparkling wine it would taste way better too! Patrons just go there for the vibe and atmosphere but I won’t be coming back!

I’ve been to LuLu’s before and absolutely loved it. However, this time, if I could give ZERO stars I would. I made a reservation for 12:30 PM on 11/11/19. It was my fiancé’s birthday. The day of, I called to make sure they were still opened, they not only told me that they were, but confirmed my reservation an hour before we were supposed to arrive. Fast forward to our reservation time and we were told that the restaurant was shut down for a private party, however their cafe was open. Ok, no big deal. A bit irritated because they confirmed our reservation an hour ago but that’s fine, we’re flexible. They bring us to the cafe and of course, not the same menu, which is alright I suppose, but we also waited 30 minutes to even get menus. Reminder, we had a reservation. On top of that, 4 people came in after we were sat and were served before we even received our MENUS. After waiting 35 minutes, we left, including 2 different groups of individuals. If they would have prepared us when we called earlier, then that’s cool. Or if they would have not made it available to book at their restaurant once it was shut down for a private party, that would have been cool too. Even though we had a great experience the first time we went, I don’t think we will ever return.

We dropped in around mid-day last Saturday and found the place bustling with activity. They were serving from their brunch menu which was somewhat limiting as it only included two lunch items – a massive burger and a BLT. I chose the BLT, which was very good. The wait staff was friendly and efficient.

Extremely unsatisfied with the quality of service, they lost our ticket, serviced us cold food, and also had hair in our food. We waited over 2 hours, people who came in after us had their food before us. Im extremely displeased because I brought people who never been here before out to brunch and this is how it turned out.

One of the best bunches I’ve ever been too. My boyfriend and I went to Lulu’s based on my internet research and we were greatly impressed. We had a Sunday reservation and were seated promptly. Service was great, food was excellent. We’re definitely going back for more.

  380. DaVida Davis 2019/10

The food itself would have gotten five stars, but I will never come back to Lulu’s because of the terrible service we received. We were sat 10 minutes later than our 10am reservation despite there being at least 6 tables with no one sat the whole time we were waiting. When she did seat us, the hostess said, “I’m going to give you a table we have reserved for a party of 7 at 11am, you should be done by then.” Our server took our order, and our food did not arrive until 10:55. We had to ask for coffee and water refills despite her walking by our empty coffee cups at the edge of the table multiple times. At 11:13 an hostess came by (I literally had just taken my last bite) and told us we needed to get up for a party with a reservation. It was so rude and unprofessional. I had previously only heard good things about Lulu’s, but there are plenty of other options in Richmond with equally good food and way better service. That same hostess took back our payment book, which still had my husband’s credit card in it, so he had to go back two days later to get his card. He talked to a manager, who said he would comp something next time we came in, but we will never be back. Also, reading through Yelp reviews shows quickly that this is pretty standard for Lulu’s. I emailed them about the incident and never got a response.

    Great food, terrible service

When I walked in, I asked the host for a table for two. She asked me if I had a reservation, and I told her I didn’t. She then told me that they had no room for my friend and I, even though the place was half empty. I left and walked around the corner to what I believed was a different cafe, only to be told that it was still Lulu’s. I asked if we could sit at the bar near the window, only to be told “you can sit there, but we will just ignore you.” I asked if I could order something to-go, and I was told that she could not take my to-go order and that I had to order at the main bar. I placed my order at the bar (Male bartender was great, btw), and handed him my credit card. When he returned with my check, I was shocked to find that an 18% AUTOMATIC gratuity was tacked on. FOR A TO-GO ORDER!!!!

I guess I learned my lesson. I think this place is strictly for locals and people who like to drink at 9:30 AM.

  385. Chinikie Goode 2019/08

A bit overpriced for a brunch menu that is not all that great. Yes, they have items that seem like they are different such as Passion fruit mimosa or red velvet pancakes but the quality of the items don’t taste that great. The are not disgusting either but the food will not have you dying to return. It is just a meh and shrug type of vrunch experienze

  386. Tiona 2019/08

Poor customer service. My boyfriend and I felt racially profiled by the staff. We came in on Mother’s Day Sunday expecting to enjoy a great breakfast and instead were turned away from trying to self-seat at the bar (which to our knowledge was self seating). Instead the two hostesses made us get up from the bar for a white couple to sit down. Never in all of my years have I experience racial discrimination and/or humiliation of this kind. It was so embarrassing bc EVERYONE at the bar sat and watched as we were told we couldn’t sit at the bar and that unless we had a reservation we couldn’t dine this morning. NEVER AGAIN!

The food comes out super fast, but there is no quality loss whatsoever. Went with a group of six people, everyone got something different, and nobody had a meal that could be described as less than awesome. Things are fairly priced for the quality of food received. The general feel of the place is very young and hip as well with… intriguing art work (look for the baby dolls).

Overall, had a very enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend this place. I’ve only been once, and just for brunch, but if I’m ever in the area again, I will most definitely stop in here for a meal again. 👍

I would say 2 stars is generous! Granted we didn’t make a reservation it still took 1.5hr to get a table. First we couldn’t put our name down because the hostess said they get charge if we weren’t sure if we wanted to wait. The original time was 12:45. Went right back in and now the time was 1:00. It took us going back to ask the hostess after waiting for 1.5hrs to finally get seated. I don’t know what kind of seating system they use but it’s not working. The hostess couldn’t even find our name on the list and I wondered if she’s would have ever even texted us if we didn’t go inside to ask. I mean countless people went in and out before we were seated. I would say the hostess was less than thrilled about working. It started to look up when we were greeted by our waitress but were soon let down by food that was subpar. We got bacon that wasn’t even cooked. It took over 30 minutes just to get our bills back. Overall I watched people sit down after us and leave before us and we didn’t order anything extra or special. Also as we were seated at a table for 4 with our party of 5 another party was seated 10 minutes after us at a table of 6 for their party of 4. The table of 6 was available when we were seated but the hostess chose the table of 4 for the five of us. It really didn’t make much sense.

We had a reservation for a party of 8 at 2pm for Brunch on Sunday and they were not ready for us. The table was ready at 2:30 but they sat us earlier by asking a 2 top to move (they were eating their meals when they asked them). The service was very slow for our table and those around us. Food was great but we will not be returning. They charged us $20 as a plating charge for the cake we had for my sister-in-law’s birthday. They did not ever touch the cake, did not give us plates, forks, napkins, or anything. We brought everything so charging us this fee was completely petty. We took a while to finish our mimosas, don’t get me wrong. However, on my way out, the waitress came after us last minute saying “finally!” to her coworkers. Then when I turned around she said “thanks, have a good one!” Completely rude and totally two faced. She literally pushed the door at me, which I was already pulling closed. She had purple hair with purple lipstick to match. I would recommend she find another job for her own happiness and for the sake of the business.

While I love Lulu’s, I don’t come too often because it’s always packed and a long wait. Today was the first time I’ve been in months and I was excited when I found out they had opened another side so there was basically no wait! I love the bartenders! Tre’ (cool, laidback redhead) is my fav btw! The atmosphere and the food are great which is way it should be 5 stars! However, on a more recent visit I ordered my usual Atlantic omelette and when it arrived I noticed that it was literally half the size it used to be along with the potatoes! Presentation was nice but I wasn’t impressed. For the same price, I have leftovers for later but not this time! And I had shells in the omelette and the tip of a claw shell that was big enough to make me think I broke a tooth! Definitely not happy about it at all!!! Whomever is cooking needs to do better!!!

I’ve heard great things about Lulus so I made a reservation for my friends birthday brunch. When one of my friends arrived she asked if they knew we were going to need a high chair and they said they weren’t aware, even when I put it in the reservation. It was 6 of us in total and they put us in this small booth made for only 4. After asking for a chair at the end of the table everything was going smoothly. We received our food and my friend didn’t enjoy her corn beef hash because it was too spicy, which isn’t stated on the menu. She asked for it to be taken away and to be off her bill. The waitress took it over to the manager and from what we saw, it looked like a big deal by asking for that. A few seconds later my friend watched the manager pick a piece of food off her plate and eat it. We were appalled. We then saw waitresses and food runners licking their fingers from eating food then garnishing plates and taking food to tables. No hand washing at all. Totally disgusting. Will not be returning.

Red. Velvet. Waffles. What more do you need to know? I went on a busy Sunday for brunch and walked right in and was sat immediately. The server was slammed with tables but still made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles and my friend ordered Shrimp and Grits. The waffles were like crack without the judging looks from the neighbors, the chicken was good but it was difficult to focus on anything but the waffles. My friend had never finished an entire dish in my presence until she went toe to toe with the Shrimp and Grits. At one point I thought I was going to get stabbed when I asked if she was going to finish her shrimp. The only problem I have with Lulu’s brunch is that it isn’t available every day.

  404. daniel katz 2019/05

First of all, to all those making comments about your reservation times… please instead of writing a review, learn how a restaurant works. Not meant to be rude, but serious. Trust me, NO ONE is turning away business or wanting to make you angry… tables are mapped out and run as smoothly as the people sitting at them.

We had brunch yesterday, Mother’s Day, and we specifically wanted to call out the two hosts for wonderful service. We actually did not realize it was Mother’s Day and forgot how busy brunch would be… that’s on us! The hosts let us know the bar, normally self seating, was also for reservations that day, but if we were flexible they could reserve the next seats that came available there. Why not? They were so happy we were willing to be flexible. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the company of my friends, had a wonderful meal, and was served by a very friendly bartender.

All in all a wonderful experience. The hosts made our day and were just as nice as could be. Treats others how you want to be treated.

A great brunch place that has interesting drinks for brunches. A diverse menu that has both savory and sweet options for a on par hip brunch place. Staff was friendly on the verge of creepy but I’d rather have that than grumpy staff.

  407. Sara Thomson 2019/04

    Make reservations on OpenTable FYI

The eggs benedict with a mimosa is my go to. The place is always crowded for a reason, the food is outstanding. Without a doubt everyone I bring here always says it was amazing. They have a spicy ketchup with adds a certain kick to breakfast/brunch.

  408. B K 2019/04

Food was good but based on reviews I expected better. The watery bland hollandaise sauce certainly needs work. Knor packets would have been better. My dad liked the velvet waffle he said it was different but tasty. We had an enjoyable experience. The location as just about anywhere in this train station farmers market DT area is anything but ADA friendly, and parking is ridiculously difficult. It was good, a bit loud, fairly priced, but frankly not worth the hassle getting to this location.

    Food: 5/5
    Ambiance: 4/5
    Service: 5/5
    Prices: 4/5

First things first – MAKE A RESERVATION! Don’t try to get in here in the middle of brunch service without a reservation. It most likely won’t happen.

Now that’s out of the way: the food is very good, if not a bit overpriced. Drinks especially are a bit overpriced, but they do make their mimosas strong so you really only need one anyway. Service is good barring when they’re very busy, but even so only had to wait a few mins longer than necessary. The ambiance is okay… it gets REALLY loud in the tiny space, especially with the kitchen and bar right there. Had to shout for my friends to hear me across the table.

Overall recommend that you go at least once to see if it’s for you. Make a reservation!!!

Dish to try: red velvet waffle

This place is fire! Reserving is best, because this place is very popular. The food is amazing and always get the mimosas. Great environment, great waiters/waitresses, amazing food. You will not be disappointed.

  414. Mark Sanborn 2019/02

We were told at brunch that the entire restaurant was reserved but could wait for the bar. They couldn’t estimate a time. Once the bar opened up 55 minutes later they started seating reservations there. Meanwhile there were at least 4-6 spots that never were occupied. We were again told those were for reservations. Odd that with a wait list of 10+ people they wouldn’t take the money waiting at the door. We left.

We decided to go here on a whim at noon on a Sunday so it was quite the busy place. We didn’t have a reservation but luckily only waited about 25 minutes to have a seat at the bar. I would recommend having a reservation before showing up. It was apparently reserved until after 2pm!

As for the food, we got a raspberry mimosa and it was fantastic and definitely not skimping on the alcohol. I got the red velvet chicken and waffles and it was good, the sausage gravy was great, but the waffle tasted like a normal waffle with red food coloring.

My girlfriend got the Huevos Rancheros and it was amazing. The first bite was nearly the most satisfying thing I’ve ever tasted. If we were to go back, I would definitely have a reservation and order the Huevos Rancheros!

What can I say? This place has a reputation in Richmond, and it is well deserved. Here we can see the Atlantic omelette, which is a seafood medley, including lobster and crab.

We also have the BLT, with a side of chorizo. With the BLT, you can get avacado or other optional toppings.

This place is also famous for the best bloody mary in the city. I would give it 3.5 stars. The tomato flavor is amazing, but I feel that the ice waters down the drink too fast and there could be more salt and pepper.

At any rate… The food is great. The place is packed on the weekends. Five stars, NO exceptions.

Went to Lulus yesterday and was visiting from the DC area. The food was good but WAAYYYY too salty and greasy!!! Hypertension in a meal, yikes! They seriously need to cut back on the salt. I couldn’t even eat the potatoes that came with the Atlantic Omelet it was that bad. Mimosas are horrible, drinks are definitely not their forte. Other than that, I give the food a 3.5.

  422. Ben Freckmann 2018/12

Bad service – showed up for a 7:30 reservation to no host and were sat down (after 10 minutes) to an empty table without place settings. Drink orders were taken a little slower than expected but not obnoxiously so. Food came out over an hour later with little explanation and zero apology; we had to follow up on our apps before receiving. Decent food – more expensive than we thought for what we got.

Our first visit to Lulu’s was a Sunday brunch. The service was excellent. Food was good but not outstanding. Eggs in the Benedict were too runny, clear egg white dripping on the plate. Huevos Rancheros was good but small. Cocktails were great. Then we were told that the next seating had arrived.Time to leave! Sorry, but we were only there an hour and 15 minutes and we spent $100 for two. Rude. We won’t return to Lulu’s.

Made a reservation and still had a 10 min wait on a Saturday morning. Took another 20mins once seated to get order taken. It was very very busy. Also the place is very small to have sooooo many patrons. The food was great but BC they are so popular I would think they would consider moving by now.

The food and service were wonderful. We went for Sunday Brunch but didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar, the bartender was amazing. Overall great experience and I look forward to our next visit.

This is a must do for brunch. Weekly food and drink specials with super fresh ingredients makes your visit different everytime…. and harder to decide what to eat. DARIA is an awesome bartender. She makes everyone feel right at home. Weekend reservations are required but as I sat there last week by the door I watched the hostess turn some people away without reservations while choosing to seat others without reservations. They do have a sign that says they have the right to refuse service. But I would like to believe that the times other groups came in without reservations there were either empty tables or no shows…. that’s what Id like to believe 😉 either way…. I’ve yet to have a bad experience so I’ll continue to enjoy my brunch and amazing mimosas barside.

I don’t know how to write a formal review for this place so I’m going to forego proper grammar in favor of accuracy.

I really, really effing recommend their brunch. I don’t like omelets at all. This place has something called the Atlantic Omelet with crab meat and bacon and a side of breakfast potatoes and oh my gosh it is my favorite breakfast item on any menu in any city. When we travel to Richmond we go to Lulu’s for this item specifically. It is absolutely incredible and has a ton of crab meat and bacon and a mild white (goat?) cheese for like 15 bucks. Absolutely incredible.

The service is timely and attentive but laid back and we always feel really good about leaving more than 20% because they deserve it. It’s in a part of Richmond that has a lot of really cool graffiti (think art, not tagging). I would say hipster chic but without being totally overrun by them. It’s like Williamsburg Brooklyn before Whole Foods and complete gentrification happened.

I know someone mentioned price points as an issue but everything is under $15 or $16 with a lot of stuff at 12 bucks so you can’t go wrong.

I love the food here! The bartender was amazing and helped my friend celebrate his birthday! Make sure you call on Saturday and Sunday to reserve your table or you will be waiting a while for a walk seat at the bar, the food is worth the wait though!

Have always enjoyed brunch, but throughly enjoyed an early dinner. Smaller menu, but very well prepared and focused. Pleasant staff, plenty of seating.

Walked in the young lady took my name for a 12:15 PM to be seated. I stood outside for 5 mins to walk back in and asked by the same girl who took my name how many will it be and what time do I want. I was shocked that she didn’t remember taking my info, and told her that I gave her my name and informed her she put me down for a 12:15. While waiting other customers came in and was seated right away with no problems. When I asked the young lady what was going on, she said oh I’m sorry and never got seated. I was recommended by a coworker to go and sorry to say I will never go there again

So on Easter Sunday I called prior to going to ensure they were open, I was told they were and they were taking reservations only unless you wanted to sit at the bar. We get there and there’s two family’s ahead of us. The manager , I suppose, instructed the two door attendants to keep track of who was waiting for the bar as it was FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. After waiting 45 minutes a girl walks in and someone at the bar gets up;she sits down without having to wait. We let that go. Then 3 people sitting next to them get up & we go to sit as it was our turn. We were told, very rudely, the man had been holding the seats since 11 ( it was 12:15 at this point) for three other guest WHO WERE NOT EVEN THERE YET. HOW ARE YOU HOLDING SEATS AT A BAR THAT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE?! Why wait an hour instead of making a reservation as the bar is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. At this point the manager gets involved and rudely tells my friend and I she knows the man is holding seats and she was fine with that and that we needed to continue to wait. WAIT FOR WHAT?! Wait until he is finished holding seats for him and his friends WHO HAD NOT EVEN ARRIVED AT THE RESTAURANT to sit at a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BAR?! We left without eating as the entire situation was ridiculous. We went to Southern Kitchen, the food was AMAZING and the staff knew what customer service meant. I would not
recommend LuLu’s to anyone who doesn’t want their food with a side of attitude, favoritism, and wait staff who don’t know what first come first serve means.

Abbie, our server, was great! Very friendly, attentive and professional – the girl with the nice bangs (I think her name was Julia) was our expo and was amazing as well! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. 5 stars

An amazing night at Lulu’s. We had our son’s rehearsal dinner there. We had close to 30 people attending. Every single person attending complimented the food, staff, and atmosphere. It was intimate but lively. Mike helped us put together a perfect night. He was very knowledgeable on how to please everyone’s palette with the menu and every other detail. Abby and several other staff members worked so hard to keep everyone content. No glasses were empty and we could just relax and enjoy the night. Cheers Lulu’s. You sure know how to throw a party! And don’t miss the red velvet waffle. A perfect dessert to celebrate love.

If i could give more stars I would. I go every time I’m in Richmond and despite being so popular that it’s always full, the service and food is always great and fast, drinks are good, I highly recommend the Irish coffee they whip their cream fresh every morning. Food is very fresh and high quality and the menu offers very unique and well paired plates. Do yourself a favor and try the potatoes they are not your average run-of-the-mill potatoes.

My wife and I came here for brunch. My wife loved the food and it was served fairly quickly. I, however, was not eating because I had already eaten earlier so I just had an Irish coffee. My issue is not with the food or the wait during brunch hours but with the service received from our waitress. Our waitress was negatively passive aggressive toward me in particular. I could feel her exuding disdain for me and my wife noticed it too. If she was having a bad day, if she doesn’t like men, or hispanic people then she should try hard to leave that at the door before going in to work. After my wife paid her bill, the waitress very pointedly looked at her and told her “I appreciate you” and didn’t even address me or look at me. Throughout our meal, whenever she would come to the table, she only addressed my wife. This made me feel unwelcome in your place of business. As someone walking around with a large tattoo that says “evolve” on her back, she should not be acting on her prejudices in a place that’s supposed to care about customer service. We will certainly never be coming back here again and take our business elsewhere.

  437. Clayton Russell 2018/09

This isn’t just a brunch spot!! (Disclaimer: I’ve actually never been here for brunch, but I know they’re know for it)

Loved my dinner here and think they should get more kudos for their dinner dishes/get the word out!

I had the Cornmeal-Crusted Fried Oysters, the Chesapeake Greens were the star of the show here and mixed so well with them.

For the entree I had the Pan-Seared Rockfish (picture). This was a work of art – a truly fantastic way to serve this fish. The asparagus and mixed greens that came along with it were the perfect compliment….along with the almond garlic butter (this stuff is delicious!).

The Blueberry Bread Pudding (pictured) capped off one of my fave meals ever in RVA and is an absolute must-get!

I shall be returning….I shall be consuming again!

Walked in for a table and there is no seating system in place. Was complete chaos, not able to put a name in, hostess said “you can try to just walk in later and if you’re lucky we might have a table. Food did look good though.

I would have loved to give a higher review but our waitress forgot to put our order in before she was moved to the kitchen to help. The food was great and the manager comped our meal for us. Would give it another try if I end up back I the area.

  440. Ben Hoppe 2018/08

Service was terrible. After we were seated it was 10 minutes before our server even approached us. I had to flag the server down to get a refill on coffee once, and then she vanished. It took 15 minutes to get our check paid.

The food was ok. I ordered French Toast. It was quite a few slices of very thin quarters of bread battered and undercooked. There wasn’t any kind of batter crusting on it, more like grilled bread with an egg wash. The compote was applied very lightly, and the cinnamon creme fraiche was plopped on the side haphazardly as if someone was working on a production line in an orphanage.

Minor note, for the type and feel of the restaurant I would like to see non shelf stable creamer brought out. The little coffee creamer cups leave a lot to be desired and contain stabilizers I would like to avoid.

I’ve only been for brunch. My favorite is the strawberry French toasts although I’ve seen people go crazy for the red velvet waffles (haven’t try them yet). The place is kind of loud as it’s a pretty popular place and can get crowded. Other than that the service is really good and relatively fast. I recommend making a reservation beforehand so you can secured a table. It can be done through their website or just by calling.

We sat and waited, but another party came and was seated and told that they could have a table. The manager explained it was because we had a party of 2 and they had a party of 3 so they get to sit at a 3 top table. That makes absolutely no sense, a table is a table, service is service. My money is green just as the other party. Very upset and will never support the business.

  446. Trey Parsons 2018/07

This place is hands down the best brunch spot in Richmond. Literally, they actually got the award in 2015, 2016, and 2017. It is also ranked top 100 brunch spots in AMERICA, yah, the whole country, great prices on large portions of bangin’ foods. Call like a day or more ahead for reservations though, otherwise you may have trouble getting a spot… It’s that good

  447. Ramon Vazquez 2018/07

Quick seating if you have a reservation. Coffee is rich and bold. Late bitterness in the taste probably related to the beans used. Peach mimosa is very good.
Entrees are appealing to the eye and equally robust in flavor. I had the corned beef hash. Chunks of brisket in a wonderful tangy sauce and hollandaise that has hints of pepper and cayenne. Wonderful presentation and excellent flavor. I highly recommend. My wife had the BLT with avocado and egg. Very good and very filling.
The red velvet waffles on the neighboring table look awesome.
Service is excellent. Cant wait to come back on our next trip to Richmond

Maybe it’s because I’ve been living in NC for a while, but the fried chicken and biscuits missed the mark on flavor and texture, and the chicken was a bit dry. I should have ordered the bacon, which smelled exceptionally good.

The food was absolutely delicious here -here and I took my best friend, who was visiting me in my new city for the first time. We did have to sit at the bar- it was very packed on a Saturday morning and the hostess did give off a funny vibe at my lack of reservation – but the service at the bar was speedy and attentive, the brunch drinks were good and reasonably priced, and the food was outstanding.

  450. Carrie Volk 2018/06

Unique dishes and quick, friendly service. This was my first visit – we had brunch and cocktails. My omelet was amazing and there were generous pours of alcohol for our cocktails. The only negatives I would give are that the waiting area for seating is a bit cramped and it’s a bit tricky to find parking, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Other than that, a rave review. We will definitely be back!

Don’t go for dinner, only go for weekend brunch. Had given our terrible experience a generous 3 star rating, but after their nasty response, will give a “true” 2.
Trout dish terrible- the “crab” stuffing had the consistency of soggy scrambled eggs, ramps bearnaise no where in sight. Incredibly salty, so much so that i left it on my plate, with the soft trout skin. My husband’s steak was full of tough gristle, a pile of which was left in his plate. Crab bisque still had flour lumps undisolved, and very little crab. 1 little muffin , about 1.5 cubic inches, and a scoop of pimento cheese bigger than the muffin.
Nasty response from LuLu’s saying my husband cleaned his plate and ate every bit of it (not true) and that i was just being mean, also not true. I could go on about all the things that were wrong, including the large male kitchen help using bare hands to wipe sweat off his face. I would have given them a single star.
Drinks were good: a Guiness and seltzer with fruit juice. Rice pilaf was tasty. Beans were perfectly cooked. Way overpriced. So disappointed and disturbed by their response.

  452. Julie Charbonnier 2018/06

I highly recommend this place for brunch. Be sure to make a reservation. I would recommend going early , before it gets too crowded. We had a reservation at nine am and the service was great. The waffles, french toast, huevos rancheros were amazing! It’s just great brunch food for a good price. Definitely worth checking out!

When I first heard about Lulu’s from moving from North Carolina I went into there for a birthday party and it was awesome I love the food and the service was great my next few visits were not a o comfortable or I may say on my last two visits my first one I ordered the Atlantic omelette and I always order that that’s my favorite thing there the omelette was cold there was like literally just a pinch of potatoes on my plate so this last time that I went in there and we had a wait for an hour to be seated when I had pointed out the same exact seats that the waitress had gave to me she said they were for a party of six she set a party of four down before sitting me and my aunt down and then proceeded to sit is down She was in fact very rude to me I was explaining to her that I was pregnant and I did not want a bar seat we had already made reservations and she stated to us that the bar was the only thing open in which I could see it wasn’t and like I stated the seats that I have pointed out to her she told me no a few minutes later she came back and grab Us said well I guess you guys can sit over here as we ordered our food again whenever I got my food the portion was just horrible of the potatoes were slim to none I ordered a biscuit the best it was cold we didn’t receive anybody butter or jelly for them and by the time I can get hold of a waitress it the other food was cold I had to get up out of my seat to flag down my waitress multiple times this was by far the worst experience that I have been there they did not it all make me feel comfortable about my visit and the hostess whoever receives the people they need to be more friendly and people like and understand it’s a fast pace place but when you have people coming in and out it customer service is key so I’m just wondering why she stated to me that there were no seats then sat us in the same seats that I pointed out to her for us to see that she waited to seat people that came in 10 to 20 minutes after us a party of four I guess because they were bigger party she set them down first but it’s not fair because we had already had reservations made and the two seats that I put out she said we couldn’t sit at and ended up sitting is there anyway so that really made me upset. I want to keep going because the food is good but how will I know my experience will be better whenever I come it is too expensive not to get what you pay for

  454. Warren Wallace 2018/05

Cool little place! The food is fantastic, and it doesn’t feel as crowed as it actually gets. You’ll need a reservation on the weekends or prepare to get in early and sit at the bar. Great place for friends and family, good coffee too! Highly recommend LuLu’s!

  455. Michael Daly 2018/05

If you are a party of one don’t eat here they discriminate. The place is empty and even if you try to make a reservation you can’t for a party of one. You are forced to sit at the bar. See picture. Restaurant open for a half hour but yet I can’t sit at a table. Some southern hospitality. Also, the staff at the door are very rude. Im forced to sit at bar meh. My entire brunch experience this morning is ruined.

We had brunch here about a year ago, and couldn’t wait to come back. Our 6th anniversary sounded like a great idea- but we were very disappointed. We made dinner reservations. From the start, the manager was right on top of the waitress almost uncomfortably, until she left. There was definitely something going on there; power struggle?
Crab bisque came. Still had flour lumps, and was not described as spicy, but was. One tiny muffin 1.5 cubic inches maybe? With too much pimento cheese, again with lots of hot pepper flakes. Maybe 2 lumps of crab wete present in the bisque. Sprouts on top were a nice touch.
I ordered trout stuffed with crabcake. Trout came out with skin still on and soggy – not in description or told. The crab stuffing was inedible- it was watery, like wet scrambled eggs, and i showed the waitress. It was also so salty from an incredible overabundance of Old Bay seasoning. I also mentioned it to the waitress who seemed unphased. I left it on my plate, and i LOVE crab.
My husband’s steak was full of gristle. Hard thick gristle hidden by the blue cheese sauce. At least 1/3 was inedible. He left the gristle on his plate. My trout was flavorless but thankfully edible.
What a waste of time and money. The only way we go back is if it is for brunch, and ONLY BRUNCH.

  458. A. Natasha J 2018/04

The food is really good, prices are a little high. The 2 stars are for the atmosphere and service. Very loud and overcrowded space. Waitress did the bare minimum and didn’t even bother to refill water. Management asks you to leave if your tab is paid since they do not have enough tables for people who want to eat here. Please do not expect top notch service, order to go or eat quickly at the bar, your experience will likely be better.

HIP AMBIANCE, DELICIOUS FOOD AND TASTY COCKTAILS!!!

We were visiting Richmond and found this interesting place to indulge in Brunch. We had to wait for 40 minutes to get the table but boy it was worth the wait. The place was full and little loud and the music was even louder. The decor was little weird.

Our waitress was very hospitable and took our drinks orders very quickly. We ordered Jalapeño Bloody Mary, Bacon Bloody Mary, Tropical Mimosa, moscow mules. I have never seen such a creative cocktail menu for brunch. All the drinks were delicious and beautiful.

As for the food, we ordered Chorizo Frittata, Huevos Rancheros,
Red Velvet Waffle, hrimp & Stone-Milled Pimento Grits. Everything were presented beautifully and I cannot stress enough how awesome the red velvet waffles were. The pecan cream that accompnied the waffle was very rich and fluffy. The house potatoes that accompnied the other savory dishes were the best I have ever had.

This definitely my favorite brunch spot and I would go there again to try all the other dishes on their menu.

The food was amazing and was served freakishly fast. I had the ‘Chicken & Biscuit’ and it was delicious. The gravy was so savory and the potatoes so tender. My friend had the ‘Red Velvet Waffle’ and she said it was also spectacular. I would absolutely go back next time I visit Richmond.

What a great place. We were looking for a brunch spot that took reservations as we have two friends that share a birthday. No problem making a reservation for 14. They were super accommodating and everything was very fast! We arrived at 11 and we’re finished eating by 12 which is awesome for a party of 14. Also, the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend going here but make sure you make a reservation. The people in front of us were told there was an hour and a half wait. Overall, great experience and would recommend it to everyone!

  463. James Brooks 2018/02

Went for brunch, long wait(not really their fault), portion size is pretty dissapointing, food is alright but not amazing. I only got 1/2 a waffle with the chicken and waffles ($14 at time of writing). The red velvet waffle was actually really good, but the rest if the plate was just okay. Staff was pretty good and friendly and the drinks we tried were good. I was happier with my food than the rest of my party.

  464. C. L. McLaughlin 2018/01

I ate at this place a few years ago and then recently. I really think it’s over rated. The food was just OK and the waitstaff was terrible. We had a reservation for our table but that really didn’t help anything.

  465. W Smith 2017/12

The food was awesome and the drinks. It would be nice if all staff wore the same shirts and/or color shirts to know who works there/name tag, etc. Wearing a tank top/crop top, showing your belly button, with a long sleeve gray sweater serving food, not a good suggestion in my opinion.

  466. Kimberly Britt 2017/12

This was our first time going and we had a ball. We didn’t know it was best to have a reservation to brunch but we got seated at the bar (it was 3 of us). The bartender Dauria (I hope that’s right) was attentive to us. Our food was delicious as well. We will definitely go back.

  467. D Hayes 2017/12

We went for brunch and I had the omelette with avocado and white cheddar with the potatoes on the side. My sons had the red velvet waffles. All of the food was REALLY good! I didn’t have a reservation, and on a Saturday morning- you need one! They were so nice though and fit us into a reservation with about a 30 minute wait. The atmosphere is awesome with an 80’s vibe and the staff was all really nice. I would definitely go back the next time we are up in Richmond!

  468. LaVaniel 2017/12

Stopped in for Sunday brunch, the place was packed! Luckily we had reservations (probably a good idea). We got the corn beef hash, which was much different than any corn beef hash I’ve tried before. It was spicy, but good. Tried the chicken and biscuits, which was also very good. I really enjoyed the potatoes that came with it. Also the French toast was very good. Definitely looking forward to returning in the near future.

This restaurant has great food, however, if you are gluten free police your food closely. The menu offers gluten free options. After telling the wait staff three times I was gluten free, the meal came out on top of a biscuit. This has happens to me repeatedly at this establishment, I will not go back.

This place has become one of the best brunch places in Richmond for me. Now you do you have to make reservations in order to have a seat but you can do that 2 days in advance which is perfect. The food size and the food flavor is beyond amazing.

Brunch here was great. We were seated next to a noisy table and the hostess had no problem relocating us if another table was available. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we had the best experience. Overall very accommodating and good food.

  472. William Landrum 2017/08

HORRIBLE and RUDE is the best I can say about this place; if I could give it a 0 I would. Our party of eight were celebrating an engagement, but this place rained on our parade in a very big way. Here are the lowlights: as soon as my son sits down he places his arm in a nasty sticky substance on an uncleaned table; when I asked what the specials of the day were, the waitress said “read it” and pointed to a small piece of paper on the table; we were told they don’t have mustard for a cheeseburger (really??); I think someone dropped a salt shaker in my house potatoes as they were incredibly salty; and one of us specifically asked that their egg be well done for their croissant sandwich which came back runny. To top it all off, as we were about to cut into our cake that we had brought for the special occasion, we were told we would be charged $20 for bringing in our special cake, even though we had brought along with our own plates, napkins, and forks. No no to Lulus. Never again.

  473. Chris Nguyen 2017/08

Brunch was super! The corned beef hash was the best I have ever had. The burger was also phenomenal. It was juicy and fatty, with delicious bacon. Everyone at the table tried it and raved about it.

This place is very popular for brunch, so I recommend making a reservation. Our table for eight was ready and waiting for us when we arrived.

Their red velvet waffles and chicken is something else. Absolutely DELICIOUS! We came for brunch and it was pretty packed, but it was worth it! The food is scrumptious and hearty and filling! Really really good! They also have a nice sitting area, and (unlike some church hill bruncheries) there’s a good amount of space between you and the next table so you can really enjoy your meal without feeling like you’re squished in. Loved it, and can’t wait to try the other things on their menu!

Extremely accommodating, friendly staff, comfy atmosphere, and excellent brunch specials. We went on Mother’s Day without reservations and only had to wait 10 minutes to score a table. We planned our next visit half way through the meal. We can’t wait to go back.

  483. Adrienne Gainer 2016/12

The hype ruined this place. It’s not bad but it is not amazing at all. I would rather eat at 3rd street. The portions were bizarre. I think they were running out of food but I shouldn’t have to pay full price for less. My husband was still hungry after his shrimp n grits and we had to go to another restaurant. My juevos tasted basic. I ordered avocado but got guacamole. Our waitress was definitely not the highlight of our visit. I will not return or recommend this restaurant.

  484. Mike Geuss 2016/12

Not sure why some people are saying portions are small. My wife and I found them to be adequate for what should be a meal and pricing was on par with a upscale breakfast place in Chicago. We both loved the food and the atmosphere. Staff were fantastic and super friendly even while being super busy. We arrived before the place opened and there was a line after we got there but most seemed to have reservations from the day before. We sat at the bar and had a fantastic time! We would return and recommend this place for most of our friends and family.

Our decision to eat at Lulu’s was based entirely on the fact that it was the only place around that was open at 9am! I’m so glad we did! Our omelets were cooked perfectly, the home fries were scrumptious, and the Sriracha designs on our plates made everything even more fun! Don’t leave without trying the Poinsettia drink!

This place deserves way more love. Every time I’ve been there the food has blown me away, the drinks are nice and boozy, and the staff has made me feel at home. I actually prefer the bar to get food cause Nico is always making us laugh, and telling us what’s the best drink to get. Hasn’t been wrong yet!

Good southern style brunch. Large portions. Very busy and loud. Waitstaff was pretty inattentive (filled out coffee and water up promptly but took a while to take our orders). If you’re not fussy or in a rush, a good place to enjoy a delicious brunch.

Favorite brunch place in Richmond. Eclectic crowd, great food, great drinks, busy place and pretty loud inside, so if you’re expecting a quiet brunch look elsewhere. Specialty drinks and entrees are on point. Oh, and seasoning tends to be on the spicier side. Also, a big party would benefit from a reservation.

I absolutely love this place. I come here frequently for brunch which is amazing. However, Samantha at the hostess stand customer service is below subpar. My review is solely based the negative experience she gave me over the phone.
I called ahead of time to find out the current wait time for a table and she told me it would take up to an hour or I could try my luck at the bar. So I was about to ask if there were any available seats at the bar since I was only 3 minutes away from the restaurant and she began to hang up the phone. I said, “ma’am I have another question.” Samantha then said, “Sorry. You know what I’m not sorry. It’s too busy in here to answer phones.” I was honestly in shock, I believe she felt like she said the second part under her breath. I told her since you’re so busy, hang up the phone and you won’t get my business today. I come in almost every Sunday and never had an experience like that. I am truly disappointed they have someone so rude working at this establishment.

We came in on a busy Saturday morning, got very lucky and got a table right away but I would have waited for the amazing food and great service! Shrimp and grits and the French toast were some of our favorites. I will definitely be visiting next time I’m in the area.

Brunch on weekends is excellent as far as I am concerned. A little longer wait, but totally worth it. Corned beef was exceptional next time I’d try the lamb.

Delicious food and good service. Just be sure to make a reservation before Sunday morning. Otherwise you’ll be waiting about 45 minutes. You could potentially get a spot at the bar, but don’t count on it.

I have given this place 4 chances since I moved to downtown Richmond. Been here twice for brunch and twice for dinner. Today when we were encouraged to come here by the manager for Cinco de Mayo, we had to wait over an hour and fifteen minutes for food (with a mostly empty restaurant) with no apologies from the wait staff. The food came out cold, orders were incorrect, and Drinks took at least twenty minutes to arrive. When addressing the problem to management, he made excuses and only offered a discount on the check which also took at least fifteen minutes. To add to the insult the waitstaff was sitting on the bar chatting, our waittress was not to be found for the first half of her ordeal and was non-apologetic. I will not be frequenting Lulu’s again.

Holy cow. Absolutely coming back to this place. Food and service amazing and the wait time was a lot shorter than originally thought. Open bar allows people to sit as seats become available which in turn decreases wait times for a table. Food was so good I thought about ordering something to go before we left!

Had the crab omelet. It was delicious. Waitstaff is super friendly and efficient. Fun, lively place for brunch. My friend absolutely loved her lobster biscuits and gravy. Outstanding!

Poor service! We Waited for a table 45 minutes. Food was NOT great and waitress only served us our drinks and that’s it. Over 2 1-2 hours spend there & saw her twice. Very disappointed. Never be back again. Plus u should have a better dress code or at least tell waitresses to wear appropriate undergarments (bras should be a requirement).

Love this place! We frequent here for brunch on most weekends and are rarely disappointed. Reservations are recommended. The drinks are great and the food comes in great portions and is always tasty.

This was the worst food I have had in Richmond. I went there because of the rating and because I really wanted a Brunch type of meal. when I got there it looked really busy which I thought was a good sign. The food was slightly overpriced but u figured if it was good it would be worth it….wrong. No flavor to anything I ordered. I ordered the chicken and waffles, the chicken was overcooked and dry and the red velvet waffle was a red waffle with no flavor at all. I also ordered the eggs Benedict for my friend and again no flavor, it was prepared well but it was tasteless. all in all I wouldn’t waste your money….maybe I just experienced an off day with a new cook or something but it was awful.

Food was overpriced. $15 for steak, broccolini, and fries. Steak was great and cooked as I wanted it. Broccollini became asparagus that was overcooked. Fries were from a bag and recooked they were not fresh.

Decor was nice very art deco/steampunk maybe? Very clean great location and easy parking.

The bartender was nice, unfortunately I ordered with the one waitress. We joined friends who were already waiting for the waitress to come by – the waitress clearly saw that we had joined the table yet only brought two glasses of water not four. Then she took the candle to get it lit before bringing us water. About ten minutes passed before she came to get our drink orders we also gave her our dinner orders. She said she’d be right back with our drinks which apparently meant ten minutes later. Food came about thirty minutes later (see above for that review). We told her it was all separate checks she seemed okay with that. This drawn out waiting for the waitress continued all night despite us being majority of the people in the bar. In the end we had a group of about 15 people. We drank them out of two brands of beer (a very limited list I might add). One person wanted to pay their tab and the waitress had apparently put everything on one bill and told us she could not split it we would have to pay it as one bill “there was nothing she could do”. I reminded her that we had told her separate tickets and she acted as though she hadn’t heard us earlier although several of us at the table had heard it. Luckily the bartender was able to let us pay individually at his register. All in all a very rude, impatient, and unpleasant waitress.

So…stumbled upon this place by accident, and what a pleasant surprise. Excellent service, delicious food and just enough atmosphere not to be annoying on a hung over Sunday afternoon. Got the lobster omelette which was busting at the seams with the delicious crustacean. Two thumbs way up. Will definitely return.
